Workshops - hands-on and training-focused on the topics you want to hear!
We are offering an incredible line-up of workshop topics this year. Hands-on and training-focused, these workshops will offer instruction on such topics as creating social media campaigns (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter), individual B&B website critiques, record-keeping, state rules and regulations that affect B&B's, how to "clean up" your computer to enable it to work better, special diet menus and MBBA website profile enhancements . . . and that's just the beginning! See the partial list of presenters and experts below and check back often for updates!
So grab your laptop, ipad and/or mobile-device and join us as early as Sunday, October 30, with workshops beginning Monday, October 31 and Tuesday, November 1, at Cragun’s Resort & Hotel in Brainerd, Minnesota!
Carol Altepeter | Northwest and Central Regions Manager Explore Minnesota Tourism
Learn everything there is to know about Explore Minnesota Tourism (EMT) including website marketing opportunities and how to actually use these programs, opportunities and announcements. Later, work with EMT staff on your on-line listing to maximize your profile and enhance visibility.
Cynthia Messer | Director of the University of Minnesota Tourism Center
How do you eat an Oreo?
Explore the differences between Baby Boomers and Millennial wants and expections, and gain tips to effectively market to and meet the needs of these two generations.
Merritt Bussiere Extension Educator | Community Economics University of Minnesota Tourism Center
Your biggest potential billboard is on the Internet. More and more searches and purchases are happening via smart phones. How do you get the information about and links to your business on Google Maps - for Android users - and Yelp/Apple Maps - and iPhone users? How do you scan for and claim ownership of existing map info about your business and make it accurate and up-to-date?
Mike Ciernia | Thumbsmobile
Mobility, everyone is carrying a smart phone these days, so what's the big deal?
Sure you have a website, but is it mobile friendly? What do mobile users really want and how do they find you? Learn how the most popular search engines evaluate your web site and what it means. Then get tools and strategies that you can implement to boost your online readiness and mobile optimization.
Reviews: the good, the bad and the ugly.
Reviews are important to your B&B. Learn what should you be doing to get more reviews and how and when to respond to a review (good or bad). How can you encourage more positive reviews? What are the best practices?
Holly Sobrack | Westbrack Marketing
One-on-one consultations covering Facebook Business Pages; how to use them to promote and book your B&B. Let’s start with making sure your business page is set-up properly and then receive personalized suggestions and techniques that you can use to keep your business in front of customers. With over 15 years of marketing experience, Holly will also talk with you about what other social media tools are available and make suggestions as to what else you could do to enhance your business.
Lars Johnson | Food Safety Guy
Lars has been training owners, managers and employees on the basics of Food Safety for more than 20 years. In his opinion, the fun part is taking it out of the book and making it apply to the real world. No fan of restrictive regulations, he does seek to find the balance between safe kitchen behaviors, good judgement, compliance and customer expections. This session will address basic practices and standards and any new information on the Minnesota Food Code.
Don Raleigh | Evolve Systems
We are excited to announce a newly formed relationship with Evolve Systems, a woman-owned, family-owned, and veteran-owned website development and online marketing business that has been serving Minnesota for 15 years. They will be offering free website audits that will include web architecture, foundation, SEO basic, content and social media presence reviews.
Tami Schluter | Executive Director | Minnesota Bed & Breakfast Association
Learn how to effectively use all the valuable tools available on the new and improved MBBA website.
P.S. Make sure to let us know if you have a specific topic you would like to see offered at the workshop!
