Experience the charm and adventure of Minnesota's pioneer era - the cozy security of hand-hewn hardwood logs, the warmth of a massive fieldstone fireplace, the gentle sounds of the St. Croix River Valley wilderness. Spend the night in an authentic log cabin built by German settlers about 1850, complete with period furnishing but with all the comforts of modern rural hospitality.  The Fireside room is dominated by the stone fireplace - now equiped with modern gas insert - and its hand-crafted cherrywood mantle, wide-plank pine floor, open beams and whitewashed log and plaster walls. This room sleeps three - two in the antique double bed with sunburst "soleil" quilt and one in the rope daybed. Just off the Fireside room is the Pioneer's bedroom with its beaded panel walls, cedar closet and American chestnut double bed covered with a hand-stitched tulip quilt (also sleeps two). The cabin kitchen is furnished in early Victorian style with spoon-carved casings and butler's pantry cupboards. A microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker are provided for your convenience. A few steps out the back door of the cabin is the "Outhouse" which is also constructed of vintage hand-hewn logs. Inside you'll find all the modern conveniences, as well as in-floor radiant heat to keep your feet toasty warm on the coldest Minnesota night.
