We enjoyed lunch there the other day and they have a huge menu, including a ton of vegetarian options. Tim had the Veggie Yucatan, and I have a Veggie Taco Salad!  I have never had a Veggie Taco Salad before and it was delicious!  Of course no visit to a Mexican restaurant is complete without a margarita.  I had a medium Mango margarita, which was tasty, but huge…Tim had to help me finish it!  Next time I’ll try another flavor!  And hopefully next time the patio will be open to enjoy that margarita while soaking in the sun and fresh lake air!

So, on your next visit to Duluth you’ll have another great restaurant to choose from.  We’ve got their menu here for you to preview, along with almost all of the other restaurants in town.

One of the biggest and most anticipated events taking place this summer is the Tall Ships Challenge scheduled to begin on July 28th through August 2nd.   A fleet of eight international vessels will sail into Duluth’s port, one of only six cities chosen in the US and Canada, and the only Lake Superior port!  It’s a rare chance to catch a glimpse, step aboard, and even set sail on some of the grandest ships of yore. The festival grounds open Thursday, July 29 with sounds and sensations ranging from a pirate school for kids to four days of performances of Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance, a musical presented by the UMD School of Fine Arts.

Perhaps one of the most fascinating ships included in the fleet is the Freedom Schooner Amistad.  It is the official flagship and tall ship ambassador of Connecticut, and more notably, holds historical significance as one of the ships used in the trading of slaves. The Amistad made history in 1839, when slaves aboard the ship revolted to secure their freedom while being transported from one Cuban port to another.  The current mission of the Amistad is to provide visitors an intense and direct reexamination of the history of the Atlantic Slave Trade and its legacy found throughout the nations of the Atlantic Basin.

Really! http://www.minnesotabedandbreakfasts.org/blog/2010/02/its-warmer-by-the-lake-really/ http://www.minnesotabedandbreakfasts.org/blog/2010/02/its-warmer-by-the-lake-really/#comments Sun, 28 Feb 2010 22:19:49 +0000 agthomsonhouse http://www.minnesotabedandbreakfasts.org/blog/?p=1337 Really…it is!  Those temps you see in the weather reports can be deceiving and do not take into account that great big mass of clear blue water that Duluth rests near.  It can truly be 20 degrees warmer at our Inn in the winter than it is up “over the hill”, or 20 degress cooler in the summer.  That’s the beauty and grandeur of Lake Superior.  So you’re wondering what my point is, right?  My point is that it is always a great time to visit Duluth – regardless of what the temperature might be.  Seriously, it’s all relative, isn’t it?!

Besides the sheer beauty of Duluth and Lake Superior, there are always great events happening around town.  The Tweed Museum of Art has an exhibit in March featuring 70 artworks that demostrate how related works of art, when viewed together, may best reveal common themes.   This is a fantastic place to visit if you haven’t been!  The Duluth Playhouse will be presenting “The Secret Garden” beginning March 3rd – 7th!  A classic and beloved novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett brought to life at the Playhouse and getting us ready for spring to arrive!  And much, much more…there’s never a dull moment around here!

So, head north for some warmer weather;  our guests from the “south”  tell us we have much less snow, so check it out for yourselves!  It’s always a great time to visit Duluth, and…it’s warmer by the Lake!  Really!!

And one of the great annual events during this beautiful season is coming up this weekend, January 29th.  Events for the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon begin this Friday, January 29th and runs to February 4th.  One of the favorite and most popular events is the Cutest Puppy Contest on Saturday, January 30th.  This is so adorable and a must see to help kick off the 27th Annual Event!  So consider “embracing” what the beauty of this season, Duluth, and the A G Thomson House have to offer you on your next trip to Duluth!
