Featuring Remy Cointreau Representative Tom Kingsley September 24, 2009 Historic Water Street Inn 6 P.M. SOCIAL HOUR: BUTLER PASSED HORS D’OEUVRES ~ Served with Macallan 12 year ~ Macallan 12 Yr Old has hints of sweet cream and vanilla due to aging in used sherry casks from Spain. The Macallan is one of the oldest Scotch names dating back over 300 years in the Speyside region. 7 P.M. START WITH: Tea-Smoked Duck Breast on Crostini with Blueberry Jus. ~ Served with Macallan Cask Strength ~ This one is cask strength, which means it was not diluted with water before being bottled, as most whiskies are. Thus, while most Scotches are 40-46% alc/vol, this big guy weighs in at a hefty 58.6% (116 proof) Soup Curried Carrot with Roasted Red Peppers ~ Served with Highland Park 12 year~ The most northerly Scotch whisky distillery in the world, Orkney is a land full of mystery with the wind, rain, crushing waves and hail providing the perfect setting for the home of one of the world best single malt whiskies. Highland Park 12 was first introduced to Charlie’s Irish Pub in April 2007 after A.J. came back from a week long trip to Scotland raving about this fine single malt. Chuck agreed to add it to our Scotch selection and it has been one of our best selling single malts ever since. Blackened Ribeye Medallions with sautéed Bacon & Brussel Sprouts and Brandy Sweet Potato Gratin ~ Served with Highland Park 18 year ~ Highland Park 18 Year Old is an exceptionally fine whisky that builds on the world-class reputation already enjoyed by the 12 Year Old. All the Orcadian hallmarks of Highland Park are here – the smokiness, the peat, the heather-honey – plus it has gained a glorious richness and spiciness through its longer cask maturation. Chocolate Hazelnut Torte with Butterscotch Ice Cream ~ Served with Naked Grouse~ Naked Grouse deviates most significantly from Famous Grouse because of the type of barrels used. Sixty-Seventy percent of the flavor in Scotch is from the wood. Famous Grouse uses American oak bourbon casks, while Naked Grouse uses European oak sherry casks from Spain. $69.95 per person reservations required 651-439-6000 |
